Comparative FT-IR Prospecting for Cellulose in Stems of Some Fiber Plants: Flax, Velvet Leaf, Hemp and Jute

چکیده

Plant fibers are sustainable sources of materials for many industries, and can be obtained from a variety plants. Cellulose is the main constituent plant-based fibers, its properties give characteristics obtained. Detailed characterization cellulosic often performed after lengthy extraction procedures, while fast screening might bring benefit quick qualitative assessment unprocessed stems. The aim this research was to define some marker spectral regions that could serve fast, preliminary stems textile plants through practical minimally invasive method without procedures. This as sorting raw by providing an accurate overall fingerprint chemical composition. For purpose, we conducted comparative Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) prospecting quality markers in flax (Linum usitatissimum L.), velvet leaf (Abutilon theophrasti Medik.), hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) jute (Corchorus olitorius L.). Analysis confirmed presence major components studied Fingerprint cellulose signals were attributed bands at 1420–1428 cm?1 assigned crystalline region 896–898 amorphous cellulose. optimization methods important find immediate applications.

hemp, and flax composites

This study characterizes the acoustical behavior of natural fiber composites. Regenerated cellulose fibers (Lyocell), hemp fibers, and flax fibers were embedded in an epoxy-matrix. These unidirectional composites were tested for their logarithmic damping decrement, the resonance frequency, the ultrasound velocity, the dynamic and static modulus of elasticity, and bending strength and density. G...

A New Generation of Composite Materials from Agro-based Fiber

Agro-based fibers are classified according to what part of the plant they come from. Five different fiber classifications will be used in this report: (1) bast or stem fibers, which are the fibrous bundles in the inner bark of the plant stem running the length of the stem; (2) leaf fibers, which run the length of leaves; (3) seed-hair fibers; (4) core, pith or stick fibers, which form the low d...

Aerobic Bacteria Involved in the Retting of Jute.

Jute, Corchorus capsularis, is the most important cash crop of Pakistan. Most of the foreign exchange earned comes from the export of jute. For this reason jute is popularly called the "golden fiber" of Pakistan. A very importanit step in the jute industry is retting. During this process, some microorganisms decompose pectins of jute bark and the intervening tissues disintegrate. The pectins ar...

Effect of Fungal Deterioration on Physical and Mechanical Properties of Hemp and Flax Natural Fiber Composites

The development and application of bio-sourced composites have been gaining wide attention, yet their deterioration due to the growth of ubiquitous microorganisms during storage/manufacturing/in-service phases is still not fully understood for optimum material selection and design purposes. In this study, samples of non-woven flax fibers, hemp fibers, and mats made of co-mingled randomly-orient...
